Causality
Apparently they did some speed test at that Cern thingie (the machine that collides particles) and found that they go faster than light speed, which is what Einstein said could never happen and all of his best work is based on (so he was wrong then wasnt he), but more importantly to go faster that light infers that time travel of some sort must be taking place in order to do just that. So causality i.e. I did that coz u did that can be changed! Unfortunately we will never know if anyone from the future turns up and changes the past or present because CAUSALITY still takes place on a different level where any changes in our timeline can never be seen by anyone else but the individual doing the changing and when returning to their own timeline could easily be RESET by the paradox that is inself them! So even the time travelling medeller doesnt even know that they have in fact changed the timeline from the past. If a major change took place that altered the time travellers timeline before they decied to go back in time a paradox again would be created that would affect the timeline. I assume without evidence of the end of the universe when Cern did there speed test that the Universe has some sort of mechanism to deal with a paradox. Comments on a postage stamp please> )
